Tony Jaclkin is famous for his draw with Nicklaus in the 1969 Royal Birkdale Cup. He will be one of four honored at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
Jacklin, who is 63, will be introduced by current European Ryder Cup captain Nick Faldo at the ceremony and will play in the Memorial pro-am Wednesday.
His company, Jacklin Design Group, designs and plans courses in more obscure places like Spain, Germany, Portugal, and Cyprus. Europe has had less exposure to and less recognition of the importance of signature-designed golf courses.
Tony Jacklin has World Golf Hall of Fame credit for victories in the 1969 British Open and the 1970 U.S. Open. He was the 1985, ‘87 and ‘89 captain for Ryder Cup teams.
Originally from England, he currently resides in Bradenton, Florida, with his wife Astrid, and 16 year-old son, junior amateur golfer Sean.
