Billy Joel Shea Stadium concert had a full orchestra playing everyone’s favorites. First announced as the Last Play At Shea but then he added a second show to became a double header. Billy sang the National Anthem to a packed audience with diehard local fans. I was really expecting Billy Joel to wrangle up much better special guests than Don Henly, John Mellencamp, John Mayer and Tony Bennett for the first of two final shows at Shea Stadium. Night two is Friday.

Wachovia stock plummeted as much as 20% in morning trading, after Oppenheimer analyst Meredith Whitney downgraded Wachovia to underperform from perform. Wachovia stock was down as Washington Mutual lead the steepest ever decline in Bank Stock Index. The biggest US savings and loan, and National City Corp., Ohio’s largest bank, had the steepest ever decline in its two-decade history.

A dope (dunce) and doping were found in the Tour de France again. A positive test for EPO blood doping was revealed for cyclist Manuel Beltran, the Spanish rider for team Liquigas. His first A-test revealed EPO blood booster from the first stage race on July 5th. The French Anti Doping Agency arrested Manual Beltran and led him away.

Colon cancer took the life of former White House press secretary and CNN reporter, Tony Snow.
Tony Snow first revealed he had colon cancer in February 2005. His colon was removed and doctors claimed his cancer was in remission but Tony Snow announced that cancer had returned, less the than a year after starting the press secretary position.
