The competitor Apple phone will sell for $200 in July, and utilize a 3G network and have 8GB storage. The Sprint Instinct on the other hand has 2GB storage on their 3Mbps EVDO network, which has five times the coverage over AT&T wireless EDGE.
Sprint claims the Instinct operates at blazing fast speeds and does not need a redundant wifi connection.
Sprint’s data plan for the Instinct phone costs $100 per month with unlimited voice and data.
As Apple touts its new high speed 3G phone, Sprint is in the process of installing 4G and WiMax network infrastructure that will eclipse previously available wireless transfer rates, matching land line speeds and promising true mobile wireless broadband.
Sprint Instinct Rivals iPhone…
Sprint is struggling to retain and add subscribers after their problematic merger, and poor service support.
But in the meantime they are building out a broadband wireless network in WiMax and 4G that might be 2 years ahead of anyone else.
Even though …
I hope Sprint gets over its market troubles. We need more competition in the wireless industry. It would be nice to have cross platform compatibility though.
