Veteran local news anchor Rob Morrison is leaving WNBC. For the past several years Rob Morrison has anchored ‘Today in New York,’ the lead-in to NBC’s lucrative Today Show.

Previously, he served as co-anchor on the weekend editions of "News 4 New York" at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. He was promoted to that post in March 2002 after serving as the co-anchor of the No. 1-rated weekend editions of "Today in New York" for 3 years.

Rob Morrison did not have his contract renewed when it expired on May 31, according to the director of media relations.

Rob Morrison cleared out his office and left 30 Rockefeller Center for good. He is thought to have taken a generous buyout package, which will help NBC clear his salary off the budget at a time when the parent company is overhauling its local news division.

For local TV news divisions facing dwindling advertising revenues, experience that used to be an asset is now a liability and translates into laying off veteran talent. Morrison’s departure comes only a few weeks after news that veteran local news anchor Jim Rosenfield had taken a buyout from WCBS.

A former Marine, Rob Morrison was the first News 4 New York reporter sent to the Middle East to cover the U.S. war with Iraq. Rob Morrison filed daily live reports and also served as a correspondent for news feeds while stationed in Doha, Qatar, at the U.S. Central Command.

He was also dispatched by WNBC to report from Afghanistan immediately following the Sept. 11 attacks.

Rob Morrison spent four years in the Marine Corps as a combat correspondent and was stationed at various posts including Okinawa, Japan where he was responsible for providing both print and broadcast news updates to American service members and families.

Rob Morrison…

GE, owner of NBC, is putting the screws on its network of local stations.
Another veteran news anchor, Rob Morrison, has been let go, following a string of other long term news people.
Experience in news used to count for something but when the pencil …

Rob Morrison was the reason to watch News 4 New York each morning while getting ready for work. A great sense of humor and plenty of chemistry with Darlene, Chris, and Otis. I’m getting accustomed to watching Lori Stokes on ABC now. Ahuge loss for NBC.

chris on 10 June, 2008 at 5:47 am #

No! I was hoping he was on vacation but when he wasn’t on yesterday I figured he left. I really grew to love Rob. Great sense of humor, boyish charm, and great chemistry with the other anchors. Best of luck to you Rob!

Janet on 10 June, 2008 at 6:48 pm #

What a huge loss. Rob Morrison was the reason that I watched the am NBC news. He has been replaced by someone very much inferior. I will be changing channels.

Sara on 11 June, 2008 at 9:18 am #

What a bummer to hear Rob Morrison has left WNBC for good. We live in an area in central Jersey where we get both NY and Philadelphia channels. Although we are a lot closer in prox to Phili we choose to watch Darlene and Rob on the NY WNBC channel because we love them! I’m sure we are not alone. I feel NBC has made a huge mistake! Now atleast Phili has funny man Bill Henley and friends. I suppose we will grow to love watching them just as we loved watching Rob. Honestly though, I feel badly for Darlene. Michael G. seems nice enough but he’s no Rob!

Bob on 12 June, 2008 at 3:38 pm #

I finally checked the internet to see what happened to Morrison - I had thought he was on vacation. I’m changing stations, starting tomorrow. He was entertaining and intelligent, and had great chemistry with Darlene. I’m a high school teacher, and when I find an early news program as good as the one headed by Morrison, I’ll get my students to switch to that one. Fortunately, they listen to me.

mary on 13 June, 2008 at 5:23 am #

I guess we’ll have to switch to another station, too. I loved the foursome of Rob, Darlene, Chris and Otis. It’s too bad. It’s a shame NBC didn’t allow his viewers a decent good-bye. Much luck, Rob from those of us who wake at 5! We’ll will miss you.

Rosemarie on 13 June, 2008 at 9:11 am #

Same here I have been watching and when he was gone again this week, I decided to search the web. Well, I guess I’ll start watching another channel myself. The show was great because of the chemistry between all the anchors. The light hearted teasing between Darlene and Rob is what made the show fun to watch early in the A.M. I had the pleasure of meeting Rob in person when he did a story on a school I was working at and the reason he was so successful was he really cared. Well good luck to you Rob in all you do and shame you on you NBC for not even giving a proper farewell to a great reporter/anchor.

debbie on 13 June, 2008 at 10:36 am #

Ditto for me, We watched every morning as we got ready. They had great chemistery and were fun to watch. They seemed to all like each other. Good luck Rob. We’ll miss U.

veronica on 13 June, 2008 at 1:47 pm #

I am so upset to know that Rob is no longer on this channel! It was great to wake up and see Rob, Darlene, Chris, and Otis in the morning. It seemed like they all really liked each other. The news will not be the same in the morning anymore :`( I am definately not watching NBC without him. Good luck with everything Rob and I hope to see you on another channel soon!

elaine on 13 June, 2008 at 7:44 pm #

Rob is greatly missed! He,Darlene, Chris and Otis had a great chemistry together. I think it is awful that his departure was never even addressed by anyone on the network. I may consider switching stations too. Why was he the one chosen to not have his contract renewed? I would love to know what he is doing now.

Fiona on 14 June, 2008 at 5:35 pm #

I must say how sad I am to see Rob go. I became suspiscious last week because I didnt think his vacation could last that long. I too decided to check the internet only to find out he left for good. I will just have to switch to channel 7. I miss you Rob.

dane on 15 June, 2008 at 12:35 pm #

too bad for rob. i also checked the internet to find this out….hello abc

Kristin on 15 June, 2008 at 7:35 pm #

I hope Rob finds this site and realizes he is supported! I have been waiting for him to return from vacation! He made me laugh all the time- very quick sense of humor- in news that’s rare! Best of luck!

Jacqueline on 15 June, 2008 at 8:13 pm #

I want to wish Rob all the best, that he lands at a reporter’s dream. He was an asset to NBC they apparently did not recognnize or appreciate.

NBC has lost me as a viewer. No more 5 pm because of EXTRA!!!! and now no more 5 am because of the loss of Rob.

George on 16 June, 2008 at 4:29 am #

Count me in as one of those who is giving up on WNBC. Like the others in this thread, the main reason I watched WNBC in the morning was the chemistry of the morning team, much of which was due to Rob’s great personality.

If they want to save a few bucks, why not get rid of the jerks who make decisions like this instead?

Mimi on 16 June, 2008 at 5:09 am #

Rob will be missed on NBC. He is the only reason I watched. NBC said he was on vaction but after 3 week I googled his name. NBC big mistake!!!!

Jeff on 16 June, 2008 at 5:56 am #

ditto. NBC’s lack of loyalty to both talent and viewers has me reconsidering my am news viwing options.

Marty on 16 June, 2008 at 6:54 am #

What a mistake. WNBC had the best morning team. I am going to stop watching NBC daytime news, including the awful Today show. Wherever Rob goes I will watch.

Marianna on 16 June, 2008 at 9:19 am #

I am changing channels in the morning as well. I thought Rob Morrison was a very good reporter and had a great chemistry with the others on the show as well as with the camera. I guess news at NBC now is all about entertainment or something - it’s no longer holding on to veteran reporters. A very sad state of affairs’ I hope (and believe he will) land on his feet somewhere where he will be appreciated. The new anchor is just off street reporting and is not an adequate replacement.

cAnn on 16 June, 2008 at 12:11 pm #

This was not a smart move on the part of NBC. You have lost another morning viewer.

Michele Haab on 16 June, 2008 at 2:38 pm #

I join the long list of people lamenting Rob’s loss and I too will be shopping around for a new morning news program. Can’t stand that guy that replaced him.

Lori on 16 June, 2008 at 6:03 pm #

I loved watching Rob in the morning. He and Darlene were perfect together. I enjoyed watching them in the morning. Another faithful viewer gone.

Anne Holzknecht on 16 June, 2008 at 11:00 pm #

Time to switch to another station. They just never know when to leave well enough alone. Experience doesn’t count for anything anymore.

Scott on 17 June, 2008 at 5:08 am #

I checked the internet today to see where Rob Morrison might be broadcasting from. I am a big Rob Morrison fan, so rest assured, as soon as he finds a home - I will switch…while I still love Darlene…Rob is cuter, but she is mad cool. Hey NBC, don’t make the same mistake twice.

Emma on 17 June, 2008 at 5:12 am #

Bad move by NBC, I too am looking for a new morning show. You had a winning team and now its just not the same. There’s an old saying, If its not broken don’t fix it.
Very wrong choice as a replacement for Rob. And not allowing fans to say Good-bye shows us viewers don’t count as far as NBC cares………….Hello CBS

Nina on 17 June, 2008 at 5:51 am #

Count me in with the rest who are so upset that Rob is gone…and without a good-bye! He held the show together. It’s not the same with Michael G. NBC needs to rethink this news team. Best of luck to Rob!

Caleb on 17 June, 2008 at 6:04 am #

Lets forward this on to NBC! Count me in on leaving NBC in the am.. I only watched the show for Rob, he was geeky and cool at the same time, very easy yo connect with. Most importantly, I trusted him, and he was never afraid to make a minor criticism if it was appropraite. Take care Rob!

Andrew on 17 June, 2008 at 6:06 am #

I was on vacation and returned to NYC on 6/16 - where’s Rob on the morning news? Google him to find he’s gone? Time to find a new morning show - goodbye - NBC

With Rob Morrison gone I am too!

Alison on 17 June, 2008 at 8:24 am #

i will no longer watch channel 4 news in the morning!

pat w. on 17 June, 2008 at 9:24 am #

Have been waiting for Rob to return from vacation. Finally checked the internet. Sorry to see him gone. NBC’s loss is somebody else’s gain. Good luck Rob.

Kim on 17 June, 2008 at 9:44 am #

Really upset at this Rob news, he was charismatic, charming and a real professional, who was really a personable fellow with his fellow contributor, See ya WNBC HUGE MISTAKE, Let us know where Rob lands, this morning newscast on WNBC ruins my day!

Cathy on 17 June, 2008 at 11:59 am #

I to am upset at the way NBC handled Rob’s departure. Like others, good-bye NBC a.m. news, hello to Maurice & Kate over at CBS in the a.m. Rob - good luck to you and hope to see you on the airwaves soon.

Mac on 17 June, 2008 at 12:59 pm #

I agree with Cathy….Rob, Darlene, Chris and Otis rocked it. Not the same without Rob. I switched when I thought he was on vacation…only to find out he’s gone!
I, too, am now watching Maurice, Kate, John and Katie on CBS…..try them….they are a fun foursome…just like Rob, Darlene, Chris and Otis USED TO BE !! Bye bye NBC !!

Dawn on 17 June, 2008 at 1:47 pm #

I really miss Rob and I can’t get used to his replacemement. I guess I will now have to switch the channel. I was a loyal viewer. Ciao!

Kevin on 17 June, 2008 at 3:27 pm #

They replaced the next Matt Lauer with the Goofy Grin Guy.

Karen Johnson on 17 June, 2008 at 5:18 pm #

ditto again. getting rid of Rob was a huge mistake. Darlene is no great shakes and Gargiulo is not even comfrtable in his own skin. Still love Chris and Otis, but forget it. ABC here I come.

Loida on 17 June, 2008 at 5:59 pm #

I share the same sentiment as everyone. The first week I figured Rob was just on vacation but after the second week I thought that’s weird although they haven’t made any announcement that he’s left. It’s weird that someone on the show especially on NBC would leave without saying goodbye. I really liked Rob the reason why I bothered with googling online to see why he wasn’t on the show anymore. I like everyone else on the show but not having Rob there is way too strange for me. It’s like having a friend that you see every single morning and they left without even saying goodbye…That really stinks that NBC let him go…

Jim on 17 June, 2008 at 10:41 pm #

I am in the entertainment business in NY and CT and Rob was the co-anchor on the NBC station in CT before he hit NY. I didn’t know him. He co-anchored in Hartford with Natalie Morales. What a team!

He was great on NBC. Quiet charm and the mix among the four of them was perfect chemistry. This is a great example of dollars being saved by big organizations vs keeping good content. Good in the short run but bad for their business long term. But thats the norm now and thats why less people are watching network TV. You would think that they would figure it out. I’ve already moved over to ABC.

Hi on 17 June, 2008 at 10:53 pm #

It stinks that Rob is gone. Cute and funny!! I will switch to CBS and watch Maurice. I was so upset when he left NBC too. Way to lose viewers NBC!!!

Edie on 18 June, 2008 at 4:26 am #

Again I wake up this morning and don’t see Rob or Darlene. Decided to google to find out what’s going on, only to sse that he’s been let go.

This new guy has no charm and doesn’t connect with the audience. Even Maurice has better charm than him.

I’m only hoping Darlene comes back cause the other 2 woman are very annoying and have pushed me to watch CBS or NBC. Anything is better.

robin on 18 June, 2008 at 4:48 am #

i can’t believe rob is gone either. loved watching him in the mornings. i moved from the dc area and micheal g was a huge hit there so i’ll give him a chance here! that darlene is no prize though! if anyone drove me to a different station, it was her…luv otis and chris!

David Hamilton on 18 June, 2008 at 6:01 am #

When this other guy showed up in the chair, I finally Googled to see if i could find out what happened to Rob and “the team”. If this is the solution, I am no longer “4 New York”.

Illene on 18 June, 2008 at 6:55 am #

RE: Rob Morrison.
Just checked to find out what happened to him. Absolutely huge mistake on NBC’s part. I am definitely switching channels!

Mike on 18 June, 2008 at 7:43 am #

I’m out. NBC has screwed the pooch with this decision.

Sue Yearing on 18 June, 2008 at 8:35 am #

I finally decided to check on Ron thinking he was on vacation. Another ridiculous decision on NBC’s part. I really enjoyed Darlene & Otis & Chris along of course with Rob. They were real. I am already off the next hour because of Ann…So now I am off altogether…

Mae on 18 June, 2008 at 1:10 pm #

I looked forward to Rob & Darlene each morning! Rob always seemed sincere and knowledgeable! What an asset!!!!!

judy on 18 June, 2008 at 1:57 pm #

moa on 18 June, 2008 at 4:40 pm #

Great loss for NBC. I’m reconnecting with Maurice on CBS. Good luck Rob - you’re great.

Joy D. on 18 June, 2008 at 7:19 pm #

I can’t believe they let Rob go..I have really enjoyed watching him, Darlene, Chris & Otis before I leave for work each morning. I tried contacting NBC to ask if he was on vacation..no reply..in two words they stink. Good luck Mr. Morrison I shall miss you. Bad mistake NBC

Jane on 18 June, 2008 at 10:25 pm #

I know from dealing with the public that people who voice a certain opinion are just a small percentage of those out there that feel the same way. Take a good look at your ratings, Zucker and you will see what a huge mistake it was to let Rob go. Hopefully as this door closed, another opened up. Good Luck Rob. You are already missed.

Marilyn T on 19 June, 2008 at 6:23 am #

The least they could have done was replace him with somebody who was his equal.

Diane Traverso on 19 June, 2008 at 8:34 am #

I never really got hooked on a news program until I stumbled on Rob and Darlene. I was a faithful viewer but won’t be anymore. Bad move, NBC! Best wishes to you and your family, Rob. Hope to see you somewhere else real soon! God Bless!

Eileen on 19 June, 2008 at 12:34 pm #

I never got hooked by a morning news show before, but Darlen & Rob & team were a perfect early a.m. start to my day. I had been wondering if he were ill or on assignment, but w/o any mention of him I finally looked into the Internet to learn that Rob Morrision will not be returning to NBC morning news. Rob is the perfect mix of serious and funny not to mention “easy on the eyes”. The NBC a.m. news will not be the same w/o him and his replacement, while very sweet, pales in comparison to Rob.

Kiki on 19 June, 2008 at 7:05 pm #

Rob is gone, so am I. I guess it is back to Maurice on CBS or over to ABC. The guy on NBC just does not have what it takes to start the day!

Linda on 19 June, 2008 at 7:23 pm #

I thought he was on vacation too. That is really a loss! We’ll miss you Rob!

JC on 19 June, 2008 at 8:42 pm #

Nothing like googling to have to find out what happened to Rob… one week fine, you think vacation, two weeks- wow he must be having fun but week three makes you look him up especially when you wait to hear Michael say ” he’s in for Rob” but it was never said…. hmmm NBC what were you thinking? Good luck to Rob, I’m sure Darlene, Chris and Otis miss him as much as we do. They were like listening to family in the morning… fun, joking, made the start of the day pleasant before the work day began. Might as well just watch cable in the morning… it will never be the same, it will never be matched. But used to like Maurice… maybe he’s worth watching.

Karen Alongi on 19 June, 2008 at 8:45 pm #

I can’t believe that there was not one bad review of Rob Morrison. Do you know why, he was such a nice guy and perfect anchor. He added intelligence, humor and a soft side when needed. Mike G. can’t hold a candle to Rob. I hope someone from NBC reads these comments. You “cut off your nose to spite your face”.
The team of Darlene, Rob, Otis and Chris was great. You trusted them, they felt like family. The corporate world sucks. Rob, we will follow you where ever you go - Goodbye to NBC.

kim chapman on 20 June, 2008 at 5:36 am #

shame on nbc news! the reason you gave rob the anchor spot was because he was a fine reporter. My morning station has changed along with all the others. Dumb, dumb move on your part nbc!

Tracie on 20 June, 2008 at 5:44 am #

Yikes! I can’t believe he is really gone. What a bad move for NBC. Rob is a wonderful anchor who will surely be missed. As soon as you know where he went, post it because I’m going too!

Jane on 20 June, 2008 at 6:23 am #

If we who finally log on to this website feel this way, many others do, too. Foolish move by NBC and they have lost me as a viewer. If anyone knows where Rob went, please post!

Barbara on 20 June, 2008 at 8:34 am #

Rob Morrison was the best. His sense of humor and chemistry with the rest of the morning cast will not easily be replaced. I can’t believe he was let go - I thought he was in for a promotion. The morning show has lost a viewer.

Joe Portello on 20 June, 2008 at 9:18 am #

WNBC might have let Rob Morrison go but it was the parent company General Electric that was behing this. For the pasr 10 years the stock has done norhing. The chairman and the Board of Directors should be the ones fired. They are coporate dummies who have done nothing for their stockholders. Good Luck to you Rob. If you land another job in New York I’ll be watching.

I too found out Rob M. was gone from the web. Shame on NBC for breaking up such a great team. Are they out of their minds to get rid of a sincere and polished journalist because of $$$$? Did the executives in charge need more $$ for their own bank accounts and found that Rob’s salary could be theirs? This happens all too often in this disgusting world. My friends and I will not watch the AM news on Ch 4 any more. Rob is one of the best and I only hopes he gets a job locally so we can watch. I will miss Darlene, Chris and Otis. The new match does not work for a lot of us.
Did NBC ever hear the line “If it works don’t touch it” no I guess not because it is ALWAYS about $$$$$

Ellen on 20 June, 2008 at 5:01 pm #

Can’t believe they replaced Rob and Darlene with Ken and Barbie. I will miss his quick wit and good looks. Hope he ends up on ABC or CBS — I’m no longer an NBC morning viewer.

How terrible of NBC. I also thought he was on vacation but it seemed too long. That was the perfect morning team. New channel for me now as well. Good luck Rob - you are very missed!

I was so disappointed to find that Rob is no longer with NBC. He was great. I hope he gets back on Morning News. Good Luck to you Rob

Mae on 23 June, 2008 at 3:38 pm #

when I finally realized that Rob was gone from the morning show and now on vacation I changed the channel to CBS for good. How can they break up and team like Darlene and Rob and hope to have loyal fans like me feel like it was alright to let him go without thinking of the viewing audience. Shame on NBC for being so short sighted.

Karen on 23 June, 2008 at 8:44 pm #

I too finally checked the internet this evening..I thought three weeks was much too long for a vacation. It’s no longer interesting in the morning, and the same stories repeat every few minutes..that was always annoying..not enough news, so repeat the same few sentences..same videos over and over and over.. Will start checking around, for sure!! NBC - what idiots..I thought the evening programming was dumb..!

Nancy Miller on 24 June, 2008 at 5:39 am #

We don’t know the inside facts, but bottom line, Rob is no longer part of one of the best teams on TV. You can’t project the wonderful chemistry you see each day between Darlene, Rob, Chris and Otis, if it’s not legitimate. A great team has been broken up, and I’m sure the others are greatly saddened, as are we….Only topped by the Mets poor decision, and timing….

Tom on 24 June, 2008 at 6:17 am #

I liked Rob very much. He had great chemistry with Darlene and the rest.
This was a very bad move. Management made a huge mistake. I hope we get to see Rob in the NYC area again soon.

JoAnn on 26 June, 2008 at 8:51 am #

Rob Morrison made Today in New York Show worth watching. His warmth and charisma together with Darlene and Chris made the early wake-up fun. You guys at NBC made a biggggggg mistake. ABC is getting my attention now.

eileen on 26 June, 2008 at 1:10 pm #

I share the same feelings. I never like to watch the news but Rob and Darlene kept me interested. Its just not the same. I guess I’ll have to move on just like Rob!!!Sorry Darlene.

Pat on 26 June, 2008 at 7:51 pm #

Big mistake to replace Rob in the morning. I love Darlene, Otis & Chris, but the foursome is no longer complete. I will now watch Maurice & Kate full time.

V. Woods on 27 June, 2008 at 9:15 am #

What a loss for the program! I agree with all who spoke of the chemistry among the team as well as the professional expertise all exhibited. MG is a nice guy but he isn’t Rob and someone else needs to replace Darlene when she does the evening news!

Karen V. on 27 June, 2008 at 11:26 pm #

NBC has made another huge mistake! Rob Morrison was knowledgeable, insightful, astute and very professional yet he exuded warmth and sincerity. His impish nature often sparked the delightful banter between Darlene,Chris,Otis & himself. He was even “easy on the eyes”! Channel 7, here I come !

Roberta Cooper on 30 June, 2008 at 6:14 am #

What a big mistake to let Rob go. He was the energy of Early Today with a great personality, very knowledgeable, with a wit about him that you have never had. Sorry you will loose viewers. Darlene was much better with Rob than Michael, they had much more chemistry. Channel 7 smells sweet.
You have made one big mistake!

Ebony on 30 June, 2008 at 6:22 am #

First let me say NBC has done it’s viewers injustice. I live in the caribbean and every morning I watch the AM show because of Rob, Darlene, Chris and Ottis. After not seeing Rob for over a month I got worried, so I turned to this site only to find out his contract was not renewed. I am so dissapointed that we the viewers did not get the common courtesy to say goodbye. I wish Rob all the best, and will only continue to watch because of Darlene and the others.

Gloria P. on 30 June, 2008 at 5:57 pm #

bottom line…NBC, you just screwed yourself. If its not too late to get Rob back, you might want to consider it!!!!! Another network will snatch him up and show you how much you lost!!!

MaryLynn P. on 2 July, 2008 at 5:35 am #

I too was curious as to what happened to Rob Morrison. NBC - you’ve made a big mistake. Just let me know if he moves to another NY station. I’ll be tuning in.

. Gina on 2 July, 2008 at 9:41 am #

I am very disgusted with NBC for letting Rob Morrison go. There is no greater team than Darlene and Rob. This was a big mistake and Rob will find better! NBC never even gave us the chance to know he was leaving, yet we had an entire goodbye dedication to Trish when she was leaving for a guidance oounselor’s position. GOODBYE NBC!!!

jeanine on 2 July, 2008 at 3:56 pm #

I am soooo disappointed that Rob Morrison is gone from the morning news. It’s definitely not as enjoyable without him. Wherever he goes I’ll be tuning in.

eileen sabatelli on 2 July, 2008 at 6:27 pm #

NBC - you have made a mistake…there was chemistry in the Rob and Darlene team..you have lost it. I am watching CBS.

Roberta Cooper on 3 July, 2008 at 8:38 am #

Listen NBC!! After all these points ofview - could you please re-consider taking Rob back. There might be a chance that he would not come back. from the day i realized he was on on vacation & just gone without even letting his fans know, I have not watched the show.
NBC, you are truly going downhill & do make poor mistakes. Consider your ratings 7 the viewers feelings before you make such a poor judgement.

Ana V Maldonado and Samuel Molina on 3 July, 2008 at 6:04 pm #

We have been loyal to Today in New York and we watch it as we get ready for work. Rob and Darlene and the rest of the gang make us laugh in the morning which helps first thing in the morning. It’s all wrong. You need to bring him back because “we” the viewer want him back. Over the years we watched you make a lot of changes that we have NOT agreed on but this is too much. Please keep these guys together in the morning - we laugh and smile early in the morning because of their chemistry. Thank you in advance for considering your viewers sentiments.

Carmen Leon M D on 4 July, 2008 at 7:51 am #

I think it will never be the same there was a great chemistry between Rob and
Darlene, the current anchor
is plastic. NBC will loose people in the early morning Today show

Esther on 4 July, 2008 at 5:22 pm #

I finally researched what happened to Rob., I can’t believe channel 4 would let him go., it was great in the AM getting ready to work they all worked so well together., when I go back to work on Monday I know I will be watching channel 5 (fox)., no wonder they are starting to lead the pact in programming they keep the same people.

Joyce Amato on 4 July, 2008 at 9:42 pm #

I was wondering what happenend to Rob. I kept hoping he was on assignment somewhere. I love Darlene and will continue to watch, but it will not be the same without Rob.

barbara shapiro on 5 July, 2008 at 10:57 pm #

I was hoping that Rob was on a very special assignment (that he always did well). It’s hard to believe that NBC would let Rob go. I guess that says a lot about what NBC thinks of its devoted audience….or rather…….WHAT THEY DON’T THINK ABOUT THEIR AUDIENCE!!!! These are not the times to be letting go of the people who keep you up there in the polls guys. Don’t we count for anything? Shouldn’t we be able to watch, listen to and enjoy the best morning team? Shouldn’t we be able to start our with day with a smile on our face from someone who knew how to do that?
What a pity. You know, it’s OK to admit your mistake. Believe me, NBC, your audience would wonder in your “bigness” if you reconsidered and told Rob that you realized the show is missing the magnetism he drew that early in the morning. You need him back to keep your audience. It’s never too late!

Susan on 6 July, 2008 at 7:49 am #

Ditto to all. I enjoy the team on Today but Rob is a definite loss. I can’t believe that he just disappeared without any “good-bye” segment. I didn’t know if he was fired, on assignment or on vacation. Sad!

Toni-Ann on 7 July, 2008 at 7:22 am #

Finally I resorted to the Internet to find out WHERE IN THE WORLD IS ROB MORRISON?? He vanished from his spot - and was never mentioned again?? How could the station do that to him - or his loyal viewers?? Don’t tell they are making room for Katie to come back - ugh. He and Darlene had the right “feel” - easy-going, no-stress relationship. Bring Rob back! Does anyone ever ask us what we want?? BIG MISTAKE you guys. I may have to switch stations - just because this was handled terribly. Who is running this place anywway? I hope you hear us - bring our Rob back!

l zigman on 7 July, 2008 at 8:17 am #

I MISS ROB MORRISON THE SHOW IS NOT THE SAME HOPEFULLY WE’LL FIND OUT WHEN HE IS ON ANOTHER SHOW

Debra on 7 July, 2008 at 1:02 pm #

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? The success of any News show is the bantering between the anchors…connecting with the audience…making us want to tune in to join in on the “conversations and laughs” You had it!!!! It would have been cheaper to keep him on than to NOW try to win all of us back. Hope the Today Show doesn’t feel too much of us “New Yorkers” backlash. Bad move on NBC’s part.

Rowena on 8 July, 2008 at 4:59 am #

NBC what a mistake! I had a wonderful experience meeting Rob on a piece he did on my daughter and what a true genuine person he is which exuded on the screen every morning. I was dedicated to TINY every morning now with Rob gone, its hard to appreciate NBC. I Miss you Rob. The Best of Luck to you. Hopefully you’ll pop up out on another channel.

Yana on 9 July, 2008 at 8:37 am #

He was the reason I watch the show. I was looking for him on other channels hoping to find him, assuming that he was bought for lot more money, as he was your#1 guy.
I switched to channel 2.

Barbara on 9 July, 2008 at 10:10 am #

NBC–too bad for you. You lost Rob, and you lost me too! Shame on you for getting rid of the best Morning Anchor on NY TV! It’s not too late to say I’m sorry….

Greg on 10 July, 2008 at 6:54 am #

Came into work and finally remembered to “google” what happened to Rob Morrison…Ditto to all comments I’ll have to surf for a new News channel in the morning. You should let go of the mgmt/producers who obviously can’t identify chemistry and excellent programming!

Roberta Cooper on 11 July, 2008 at 7:32 am #

I have not watched your early AM broadcast since I found out that Rob Morrison is gone. I say ditto to all comments & NBC should have thought this out more clearly. He was an asset to your show. The ratings had to go down since he left!
Thank you!

curtis on 15 July, 2008 at 4:36 pm #

News on a morning will never be the same again N B Ccould have let his fans know somting bad move nbc bring back rob morrison i only knew he let from the net

LEE on 17 July, 2008 at 1:04 pm #

I have been watching the today in new york show since Matt Lauer was on with Jane Hanson. Every morning I enjoyed watching Rob and Darlene and Chris and Otis interact with each other and it was a pleasant way to start the day. I know NBC is having trouble, How dumb can you get to not keep Rob Morrison. I am now watching Maurice on the early edition on CBS and I hate CBS. I hope we can soon find out where Rob will be working. NBC deserves to go under with their recent decisions. The Today show is getting more like a variety show now too, and I will be turning that off soon also.

Pat on 20 July, 2008 at 2:47 pm #

A big mistake letting Rob go. I agree with Lee from July 17. The Today show is getting to be a variety show with little hard news content. More interested in entertainment. Will be going to CBS

PATTI COLUMBIA on 22 July, 2008 at 8:08 am #

I thought Rob was a moron. I’m confused about the comments he has received because I found him to be a bumbling idiot.

pauline on 22 July, 2008 at 4:38 pm #

Very disappointed with NBC’s decision to lay off Rob. He was bright, insightful and entertaining. I very much enjoyed watching the morning news as the anchor team was well matched.

pam on 7 August, 2008 at 7:29 am #

i agree with everything everyone wrote about what a mistake nbc made by letting rob morrison go. it was a pleasure to watch him and his other newscaster in the am. he will be missed alot. it was a great news program. now that he is gone, trish is gone and katie is gone from nbc. i will probably look for another station to watch. meredith can never fill katies shoes. i like everyone else on today but can’t seem to watch it with meredith . nbc let to many good people go… good luck to them all.

sally on 7 August, 2008 at 12:46 pm #

Now I know what happened to Rob - finally went on-line looking for him. NBC - you mad a BIG mistake - don’t care for Michael at all!!!!

Les on 7 August, 2008 at 2:12 pm #

I looked at NBC, tried to E-mail them(it was returned) and even called the Newsroom only to hear “He’s not here any more” What a shame!!! I can see by the many responses he’s truly missed. If you read this Rob, best of luck to you. SEMPER FI

Wynne on 14 August, 2008 at 7:33 am #
